WeFixIt Garage Doors and Gates is seeking a Service Technician / Installer who will be responsible for garage door repairs, maintenance, and installation of both residential and light commercial garage doors and gates for the Triangle area, the Triad, Fayetteville, and Wilmington. We are a local, family-owned, and operated business that is 100% customer service oriented. We value quality service over sales, so you won’t need to be a salesperson, just a people person.

  • Repairing/Preventative maintenance and installing all types of residential and light commercial garage doors and gates

  • Must present themselves with a positive attitude and demonstrate excellent people skills

  • Adhering to codes, regulations, and safety standards

  • Maintains customer rapport by resolving concerns, answering questions and openly communicating with the customer

  • Maintain a clean and organized company provided vehicle and/or tools

  • Inspect job sites both pre and post-work

  • Honor five-year warranty on our work

Candidate requirements:

  • Experience in repair and installation of garage doors and gates is required

  • You must demonstrate a high level of maturity, willingness to learn, and dedication

  • Valid driver's license. Must have a good driving record

  • Basic electrical/mechanical skills

  • Ability to use a ladder and power/hand tools

  • Requires exceptional customer service abilities to provide excellent client education for appropriate repair, maintenance, and needed upgrade services

  • Inventory and restock parts in the service truck

  • Physically able to move heavy objects and the ability to bend, climb, reach, kneel, etc.

  • Work some evenings and every other weekend


This is a full-time year-round commission-based position. Looking at our technician’s pay, it breaks down to $20-$30 an hour based on a 40-hour workweek depending on your level of skill.

**Our business is headquartered in Durham and in Wilmington, but this is a service area position. You would park your van that we provide at your home and work around that area. We are currently looking for people who live in or around to Raleigh, Wilmington, and Wake Forest to serve our customers there.**

WeFixIt Garage Door Installation and Repair is more than “just a garage business”. We like to think we are doing something really different from how we operate both internally in regards to our team and externally in the way we serve customers. We are a locally owned and operated small business. We serve the Triangle, Triad, Fayetteville, and Wilmington coastal area. Several technicians cover these areas providing customers with exceptional repair and installation service. Though we have established operations and procedures, we have a bit of a start-up feel because we are always striving for ingenuity, better service, more quality of not just work life, but a livelihood for our employees, and serious expansion.

We need someone to be the brand champion while taking care of our customers. We imagine they will be creating a real social presence for the company while working with customers to schedule jobs, but also to truly engage the public, turn them into customers, and interact with them throughout. We want you to utilize our fantastic reputation to launch our business into other worlds. This could expand into in-person or virtual networking and seeking partners in the community or generating media attention for the work we do. Or both! It really depends on your skillset and interests.

We imagine this job being a good fit for someone who is able to work remotely and who can work together with the two other office employees to make sure there is full coverage during the times most needed. This could look a number of ways and could include weekends, but that is not a requirement. There is weekly flexibility, but this person needs to be working for 40 hours a week. Those hours can be different each day and can include some weekends depending on your interests and availability.

Brand development and awareness (Communications and content wizard)

  • Manage and communicate our specific brand of quality, neighborly service.

  • Keep up with social media presence and expand to outlets like Houzz.

  • Deepen our online presence and advertising outlets like Google and Yelp.

  • Photo photos, stories, and generate buzz.

  • Create video content of garage issues for YouTube channels and websites.

  • Develop our current tiny blog into a monster.

Answering calls from customers (Customer service oriented)

  • Be available to answer calls during your scheduled hours.

  • Play the game of not missing any calls.

  • Ensure quality customer care in these calls and with scheduling.

  • Follow up with customers.

Scheduling service (Likes puzzles)

  • Using WorkIz Easy work tool.

  • Scheduling customers for the soonest hour possible while figuring out the most efficient driving route for technicians.

  • Prioritizing jobs.

Responsible for tracking ad source of calls and jobs (Data nerd)

  • Following your advertising through to service provided.

  • Including tracking Google Local Service calls and requesting reviews.

Required Experience

Trial period 45 days

  • Train remotely with potential to meet up depending on the pandemic and preferences

  • Pay $10 / hour

After the trial period

  • Raise in pay TBD

  • $250 Health Reimbursement each month

  • Earn one paid day off every 20 days to use as you wish

  • Fully remote with infrequent meetings in person as needed

  • Monthly stipend to cover the use of your personal office and equipment and supplies

  • Flexible hours - agree on a weekly schedule with supervisor

Salary: $10.00 to $15.00 /hour
